As we approach the holiday season, consider taking your celebrations back in time with Baldwin County Youth Orchestra's Renaissance Yuletide feast.

The medieval-themed fundraiser event will take place Dec. 8 and Dec. 9 in Fairhope, as dancers, singers, musicians, jugglers, kings, queens and knights come together to entertain guests.

Orchestra director and co-founder Leroy Hughes said he has participated in similar events in the past and is excited to bring this tradition to Baldwin County for the first time.

"Our idea is to have guests walk through an entryway that is decorated like a castle and enjoy the music as they walk around," Hughes said. "We will have our youth choir singing, the orchestra playing and actors acting out skits while the audience eats dinner."

The event will also feature a traditional menu, offering guests warmed cranberry wassail, charcuterie, Yorkshire pudding, shepherds pie, baked ham, roasted vegetables, figgy pudding, coffee and hot tea.

Hughes said that in addition to the dinner, the program will also hold it's usual Christmas concert and silent auction event.

"We are planning on having two dinners with limited seating," Hughes said. "This is brand new. We have never done an event like this, but we thought it would be something unique for our program."

According to Hughes, the dinner will have about 100 tickets available for purchase for each event.

Tickets are available for purchase now, and proceeds from the event will go to benefit the young musicians in the Baldwin County Youth Orchestra, Youth Chorus and Pensacola Early Music Consort.
