BAY MINETTE, Alabama — The Baldwin County sales, use and license tax division will host a free quarterly taxpayer workshop Tuesday, March 6, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Baldwin County Central Annex Auditorium in Robertsdale. The workshop is geared for any business or individual that deals with or needs information about sales tax, sellers’ use tax, consumer use tax, rental-lease tax, video-rental tax or business license issues. The workshop will present information on the following topics: 1 Explain who is subject to state business licenses. 1 Explain when a business license is due. 1 The various tax types and how they are applied depending upon the nature of the business activity. 1 Clarify who is subject to register and obtain a tax account with Baldwin County. 1 Explain what exemptions may or may not be available on various sales transactions. 1 Provide instruction on how a taxpayer may use the electronic filing website. 1 Explain when a tax return is due. 1 Explain how tax discounts are calculated and on what type of tax it applies. 1 Explain what penalties may apply to delinquent tax returns.
