The Baldwin County Commission resurfaced 66 miles of roads and paved 3 miles of dirt roads across the county in 2025, continuing an annual effort to preserve a transportation network that spans more than 1,400 miles.
According to a news release, the work reflects a mix of contracted resurfacing projects and in-house paving completed by the Baldwin County Highway Department, a strategy county officials say helps balance long-term planning with day-to-day maintenance needs. By combining outside contracts with county crews, the commission aims to stretch resources while addressing both immediate repairs and future demands.
“We continuously invest in our transportation system to ensure residents have safe and reliable roadways, both now and into the future,” said District 1 Commissioner James “Jeb” Ball in the release.
County leaders said planning for 2026 resurfacing projects is already underway, with paving activities expected to continue throughout the year. The annual paving program is considered a cornerstone of infrastructure maintenance in Baldwin County, where growing traffic volumes and weather conditions place ongoing pressure on local roads.
