BAY MINETTE, Ala. _ Owners of the 252,000 vehicles tags in Baldwin County soon will have the option of credit card renewal at the Baldwin County Probate Office’s four locations.

The action was approved Tuesday by the Baldwin County Commission, after Probate Judge Tim Russell cited numerous requests for the service.

Russell said it will take 30 days to install card readers and make preparations for the service which will include a service fee of about 3 percent.

“We plan to start the service in Bay Minette, then utilize it in the other three offices,” Russell told commissioners. “Many people have asked for it and want the convenience for licenses and tags.”

Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Driver license issuance/renewal hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

Probate offices are in Bay Minette, the Robertsdale Central Annex and satellite courthouses in Fairhope and Foley.
