Baldwin County opens relocated River Road in Styx River community

Posted

Baldwin County Commission held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday to celebrate the completion of the River Road Relocation Project in the Styx River community. The long-planned infrastructure upgrade aims to provide consistent, safe access for residents who have repeatedly found themselves stranded during flooding.
Local residents, first responders and county and municipal leaders gathered to mark the opening of the newly elevated and rerouted stretch of River Road. County officials said the improvements will make the roadway more reliable during high-water events, improve emergency response and offer long-awaited peace of mind for the dozens of households that have faced extended isolation when the river floods.
