Baldwin County EMA encouraging evacuations in storm surge impact from hurricane

Baldwin County Emergency Management Agency has declared a local state of emergency effective immediately and is encouraging people within the forecasted storm surge range to evacuate ahead of what is expected to be Hurricane Isaias by the time it makes landfall Friday night or Saturday morning.

A Hurricane Watch is in effect for the entire Alabama coast and all of Baldwin County.

The National Weather Service is predicting a storm surge of 5-7 feet in our area.

Ensure your vehicle has an up-to-date re-entry decal affixed to the inside driver-side windshield. These decals are critical for allowing residents back onto the island and through checkpoints following an evacuation.

GULF SHORES - City Hall or Gulf Shores City Store

Decals will not be distributed once a hurricane warning is officially issued.

Required documentation to bring:

  1. A valid driver’s license.
  2. Proof of property in Gulf Shores (such as a deed, utility bill, tax statement, etc.).

ORANGE BEACH

Decals will not be distributed once a tropical storm or hurricane earning is issued.

- Residents of single-family homes can pick up their decals at the Finance Department, located at 4099 Orange Beach Blvd. (**Finance is now behind City Hall**). Office hours are Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

- Required Documentation: To pick up your decals, please bring proof of residency and a current City utility account.
