The Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance (BCEDA) is strengthening its leadership team with key promotions and the addition of new talent, positioning the organization for a year focused on collaboration, workforce readiness and sustainable growth.
McCall Lugo has been promoted to director of economic development according to release from the organization. Lugo, who joined BCEDA in August 2022, will lead economic development initiatives across Baldwin County, oversee industry relationships and guide project activity. With a background in marketing and business development, she will also help shape the Alliance’s strategy, messaging and community engagement.
The release also said that Christina Hellmich has been promoted to director of workforce development. Previously serving as industry engagement director, Hellmich will focus on building Baldwin County’s workforce through partnerships with industry, education and state and local entities. Her work will connect employers with talent and support work-based learning programs that prepare students and workers for the future.
The organization also welcomed Ryan Brown as project manager. Brown comes from ServisFirst Bank, where he worked as a credit analyst, and previously served as an economic development intern with BCEDA in 2023 and with Spire in 2024 through the Economic Development Association of Alabama Internship Program. He earned a bachelor of science in business administration and finance from Auburn University in May 2025.
“These promotions and additions to our team reflect the strength of our organization and the momentum we’re building across Baldwin County,” said Lee Lawson, president and CEO of BCEDA, in the release. “McCall and Christina have demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to our mission, and Ryan brings both fresh perspective and a deep understanding of economic development. Together, this group represents the energy, expertise and collaboration that will drive a successful year ahead.”
BCEDA Board Chairman Jim Bibby, general manager at The Wharf, emphasized the importance of teamwork.
“Economic development is ultimately about people and partnerships,” Bibby said. “With McCall’s strategic leadership, Christina’s workforce expertise, and Ryan’s enthusiasm and analytical skills, we are incredibly well-positioned to support business growth and opportunity across Baldwin County. The year ahead is bright.”
