The Baldwin County Council on Aging has introduced a new weekly program aimed at helping older adults feel more confident using their cell phones and staying connected with family, friends and essential services.
The initiative, called “Cell Phone Fridays,” is now underway at the Council on Aging office, 22251 Palmer Street in Robertsdale according to a news release. The free sessions are held each Friday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and again from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The program offers one-on-one assistance with common smartphone tasks, including making and receiving calls, sending text messages, navigating apps and adjusting phone settings. Staff members are also available to answer additional questions and provide personalized guidance based on individual needs.
“Staying connected to family, friends, and important services is essential,” said Council on Aging representative in the release. “This program gives seniors a comfortable place to ask questions and build confidence using the technology they rely on every day.”
Appointments are preferred to ensure adequate time for each participant, though walk-ins are welcome as space allows. Seniors can schedule an appointment by calling (251) 972-8506.
Access to reliable communication has become increasingly important for older adults, particularly as health care providers, government agencies and community organizations continue to expand digital services. Programs like “Cell Phone Fridays” are designed to bridge the technology gap and promote greater independence.
