Baldwin County Commission has approved the donation of about 4.5 acres of county-owned land in North Baldwin County to Prodisee Pantry Inc., paving the way for a new food distribution facility aimed at addressing food insecurity in the region.
The property sits near the intersection of Highway 225 and Lakeview Road and will serve as the future site of a permanent Prodisee Pantry location in Stockton, a news release said. The nonprofit has provided food distributions in the community for more than a decade, assisting a growing number of families across North Baldwin County.
In 2025 alone, nearly 1,500 families attended distribution events in the Stockton area, highlighting the increasing demand for reliable and accessible food assistance, the release said. The new facility is expected to expand the organization’s reach while offering more consistent services and additional resources to residents in need.
Under the agreement, the donated land must be used specifically for a public food bank, and construction of the facility is required to be completed within three years.
“This project represents a meaningful investment in the well-being of our residents. We are proud to support partners like Prodisee Pantry who are making a direct impact in our communities,” the Commission said in the release.
Prodisee Pantry plans to fund both construction and ongoing operations through private donations, grants and community support. The organization will also coordinate closely with county staff throughout the development process.
Per the release, the project reflects Baldwin County’s broader effort to strengthen partnerships with nonprofit organizations working to address critical needs such as food insecurity, a persistent issue in many parts of Alabama where rural access and rising costs have strained household budgets.
Once completed, the Stockton facility is expected to provide a centralized hub for food distribution in North Baldwin County, improving access for families who have relied on periodic or mobile services in the past.
