Baldwin Bone & Joint, P.C. will continue its Community Education Series in April with a free public event focused on hip and knee replacement, offering area residents insight into when surgery may be appropriate and how to prepare for recovery.

Orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Andrew McGee will lead the Lunch and Learn session, titled “Getting Back in the Game with Hip & Knee Replacement - Understanding the Process: When to Choose, What to Expect & Keys to Effective Recovery,” on Friday, April 24 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Foley Senior Center, 304 E. Rose Ave.

The event will cover key considerations for patients weighing joint replacement, including timing, expectations and strategies for effective recovery. Attendance is complimentary, though reservations are required by April 17 by calling (251) 943-1877.

McGee, who specializes in hip and knee replacements, brings extensive training and experience to the discussion. He earned his undergraduate degree with honors from Auburn University and completed medical school at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He then finished an orthopaedic surgery residency at UAB Medical Center, followed by a hip and knee fellowship at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.

“I chose orthopaedics because it allows me to solve real problems with tangible results,” McGee said. “I’m drawn to the precision, the process, and the reward of helping people regain movement and quality of life. My philosophy is simple: do the work right the first time, treat people the way you’d want your own family treated, and always keep learning.”
