Baldwin Bone & Joint to host free seminar on chronic pain treatment options

Posted

People living with chronic pain will have an opportunity to learn about treatment options during a free educational seminar hosted by Baldwin Bone & Joint, P.C. on Sept. 22.

The Daphne-based orthopaedic practice will host “Get Back to Living! Discover Options for Managing Your Chronic Pain” from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Baldwin Bone & Joint, 1505 Daphne Ave., Daphne. According to a news release, the in-person event will feature Dr. Elliott Pennington, a fellowship-trained pain management specialist, who will discuss minimally invasive approaches to managing chronic pain.

Pennington’s presentation will cover interventional pain management treatments including nerve blocks, radiofrequency ablation, spinal cord stimulation and the Intracept procedure. A special guest who is successfully managing chronic pain also will share remarks during the seminar.

“Something that's really exciting about pain management as a specialty is the rapid nature of how technology is changing what we can offer our patients. A huge benefit of the team here at Baldwin Bone & Joint is the integrated nature of our clinic — we work together to create a plan for each individual patient and tailor their treatment to help improve their quality of life,” Pennington said in the release.

The seminar is designed for people who have experienced pain for more than six months, have pain that interferes with sleep, walking, standing, hobbies or routine activities or continue to experience pain after spine surgery.

A Gulf Coast native, Pennington earned degrees in biomedical sciences and medicine from the University of South Alabama. He completed an anesthesia residency and an interventional pain medicine fellowship at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi.

He is a member of the American Medical Association, American Society of Anesthesiologists and American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.

Refreshments will be provided at the seminar. Family members, friends and care providers are welcome to attend.

Registration is required. For more information or to register, visit https://BSNevents.com/2682d or call or text Jhennifer Watson at (850) 232-6449. Registrants will receive a confirmation email.
