The Fairhope which was ranked No. 10 in the previous Class 7A Alabama Sports Writers Association poll earlier this year disputed the latest version with a 75-66 victory overNo. 7-ranked.
Tevin Brown scored 30 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and was 9-for-9 at the free throw line for the Pirates. Tiavis Quaites added 18 points and Philip Martin had 10 for the Pirates. McGill-Toolen was led by Rene Scott with 18 points and Marlon Williams with 13.
In a Class 6A Area 2 battle of unbeatens, Spanish Fort (14-10 overall, 6-0 in area) defeated Daphne 70-62 in double overtime to earn a victory over Daphne (19-7, 6-1). Michael Meador scored 23 points with seven rebounds and six blocks to lead the Toros, Justin Thomas added 19 points and 25 rebounds withfour blocks. Terrin Atkinson had 17 points for SFHS.
The Trojans were led by Teion Stanton and Deontaye Buskey with 15 points each and Dre Graves’ 14 points. The rematch is set for Feb. 1 at Spanish Fort.
Fairhope 60, Northeast Jones (Miss.) 38: Tevin Brown led the Pirates with 24 points in the Wayne County Classic in Waynesboro, Miss. Philip Martin added 11 points for Fairhope (16-6).
Daphne 48, Robertsdale 33: Deontaye Buskey scored 13 points to lead the Trojans to a Class 6A, Area 2 win at home. Daphne improved to 19-6 overall, 6-0 in league play.
Spanish Fort 53, Gulf Shores 34: Spanish Fort (13-10 overall, 5-0 in Class 6A, Area 2) got 26 points and eight rebounds from Michael Meador and 17 points from Terrin Atkinson.
Bayside Academy 61, St. Luke's 51:Spencer Newman scored 23 points for the Admirals, followed by Seth Matthews’ 17 points and Sam Koby’s 10 points. Jeremaine Brown led St. Luke’s with 13 points. Bayside finished 27-of-29 at the foul line.
Murphy 61, Foley 40: Chris Armstrong led Foley with 11 points.
GIRLS
Spanish Fort 43, Daphne 33: Spanish Fort’s Rose Gul led all scorers with a game high 19 points.
Gulf Shores 52, Spanish Fort 45: Chloe Robertsled the Dolphins with 15 points and 17 rebounds, Hailey Thompson added 11 points, six rebounds and four steals, Kennedy Cronan had 12 points and 19 rebounds, and Caitlyn Martin scored 10 points..
Murphy 50, Foley 25: Dymond Harris scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds for Murphy, and Aderria Jackson added 15 points and six steals. For Foley was led by India Perdue with 10 points.
St. Luke’s 43, Bayside Academy 38: Ashley Chapman led St. Luke’s with 20 points. Bayside was led by Blakely Jones with 17 points.
