A second Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii is opening on the island, this one near the beaches of Gulf Shores.

Having started in Hawaii, Bad Ass Coffee offers a variety of hot, iced and frozen coffee, along with tea and a food menu featuring sandwiches and breakfast items. The first Baldwin County location is in Orange Beach on Canal Road between Blalock Seafood and Specialty Market and Smoothie King.

The Gulf Shores location is opening at 520 W. Beach Blvd., which is where L.A. Pizzeria was before closing in August amid a controversial municipal election season that saw a dispute between the restaurant owners and property owners over the placement of campaign signs on site. The spot is next to Mythic Beach Banana Bar, near Bahama Bob's.

Tom Wylie of Bad Ass Coffee cited the brand's rapid expansion and said they have always wanted to bring a location to Gulf Shores, personally owning a home there. He told GCM the new location will feature outdoor shaded seating and cornhole boards, adding that they are currently targeting an opening around April or May.
