Azalea Trail Food and Music Festival set for March 27

MOBILE, Ala. — The inaugural Azalea Trail Food and Music Festival will be held March 27, immediately following the Azalea Trail Run. The run begins at 10 a.m. and the festivities continue until 2:00 p.m.

Presented by Legacy 166, The Consumer Advocates for Smoke Free Alternatives, WebOperations.net and the city of Mobile, the event will be held in Spanish Plaza to coincide with the popular run, which is celebrating its 33rd year in the Port City. The race begins and ends at Spanish Plaza.

The music and food festival is only $1.

“We are excited and looking forward to a terrific Saturday afternoon,” said Michal Douglas, one of the promoters and owner of WebOperations.net. “We have jumpy things for the kids, great food and awesome music. We are looking forward to a good crowd and hope everyone can make plans to attend for a little while.”

This year’s theme, “Clean Air Concert,” features several local bands performing on stage along with children’s rides and a gumbo cookoff. The event is a warm up for next year’s Azalea Trail Food and Heritage Festival. The 2011 festival is created as part of Legacy 166’s mission to make available cultural activities for community participation; to provide a platform for the performing and culinary arts; and to create an event in South Alabama that will showcase the heritage of the state.
