FAIRHOPE, Ala. — The Devil Wears Prada meets conservative network news in Brooke Parkhurst’s new novel Belle in the Big Apple. The host of “Eat and Greet” for ABC News Now will read and sign her latest work, Oct. 2, from 6 until 8 p.m., at Page & Palette, 32 S. Section St. in Fairhope.

Belle in the Big Apple introduces readers to Belle Lee of Mobile, who moves to New York to work at American News Channel, and is determined to make it as a journalist without losing her soul.

Belle navigates her way through the scandals and politics of the newsroom, but stays true to her Southern roots, cooking up amazing meals in her tiny Soho apartment, and using every ounce of Southern charm to get herself out of the copy room and on air, where she deeply believes that she belongs.

Like many Southern women — or all women for that matter — Belle knows that if you want to win friends and influence people, you need to feed them really yummy food.

Filled with recipes like “Bribe-Your-Co-workers Poundcake,” “Election Night Bites” and “Single Girl Sustenance,” Belle in the Big Apple is scandalous, sexy and delicious.

Parkhurst worked for Fox News when she moved to New York at age 22 from Pensacola.

On March 26, her “Belle in the Big Apple” food and wine column debuted in the Pensacola News Journal. In it, Parkhurst acts as the big city foodie correspondent for small town America, translating cosmopolitan, cutting edge trends for at-home cooks below the Mason-Dixon Line.

She currently lives in Soho.
