Auburn senior from Spanish Fort to serve as engineering college's graduation marshal

Carolina Triboni, a senior in Auburn University’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, will lead the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering’s class of 2025 as its graduation marshal during spring commencement on Sunday, May 11.

Triboni moved to the Spanish Fort from Sao Paulo, Brazil, in 2016. She overcame language and cultural barriers to graduate high school in 2021 with the support of her family and friends. She recognized her opportunity to reach new heights at Auburn by challenging herself to step outside her comfort zone in academics and extracurricular activities.

“I am humbled by the scholarships, recognitions and awards I have recently received, including the 2025 Outstanding Civil Engineering Student, the College of Engineering President’s Award and Graduation Marshal because I know this journey has only been possible due to my classmates and faculty who have worked behind the scenes to make it all possible,” Triboni said.

Beyond academics and research, Triboni was active in several campus organizations. She serves as chapter president of Chi Epsilon, the civil engineering honor society; chapter treasurer of the American Concrete Institute; a Cupola engineering ambassador; a Tau Beta Pi inductee; and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and Society of Women Engineers.

After graduation, Triboni plans to remain at Auburn to pursue a master’s and doctorate in structural engineering. She has accepted a summer internship with Nucor Buildings Group in Waterloo, Indiana, and will defer a full-time position until after completing her graduate studies.

“Carolina Triboni embodies the academic excellence, leadership and perseverance we value in the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering,” said Mario Eden, dean of engineering. “Her journey and success reflect the best of Auburn Engineering, and we are incredibly proud to have her represent the Class of 2025 as this year’s graduation marshal.”

Triboni said she hopes to return to academia as a civil engineering professor after working in the industry to prepare the next generation.

“My professors have been one of the greatest support systems during my educational career, from helping me with homework to finding industry connections,” she said. “I want to be able to do the same for others. From my volunteer and paid tutoring positions, I’ve realized I enjoy teaching.”

Commencement will begin at 6 p.m. inside Neville Arena. Eric Ludgood, a 1978 graduate of Auburn’s School of Communication and Journalism and an award-winning journalist, editor and producer, will deliver the keynote address.
