Kristi Hagood, a veteran attorney with 25 years of legal experience, announced Tuesday she is running for Baldwin County Circuit Court Judge, Place 7.

Hagood has worked for the Alabama Attorney General’s Office, the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office and the Baldwin County District Attorney’s Office. Her career includes prosecuting felony child abuse and elder abuse cases, creating an elder abuse and white collar crime unit, handling civil matters for the district attorney and managing death penalty cases for the state.

“I have been blessed by getting to pursue that calling throughout my career. I have also raised a family with my husband, and we have taken care of our elderly parents,” Hagood said. “Through it all, I have gained the legal experience and the life experience to be a good judge. Judges are supposed to apply the law to the facts, and I believe that the law should be applied equally and fairly to everyone who comes to court. I hope you will trust me with your vote to become the next Baldwin County Circuit Judge.”

Hagood lives in Fairhope with her husband, Dr. Lanier Hagood, and their two children. The family attends Three Circle Church.

Her decision to practice law, she said, stemmed from a summer newspaper internship where she covered stories about children who had been victims of crime.

“I am running for Baldwin County Circuit Court Judge to keep my family safe and to keep your families safe, as well. I decided to become an attorney after I did a summer newspaper internship where I had the chance to report about children who had been victims of crime,” Hagood said. “From that point on, I knew I wanted to become an attorney and that I wanted to advocate for child victims and protect families.”
