Arthur Thomas Petrilena, died peacefully Monday, May 9, 2011 in Foley, surrounded by his wife, daughters and close friends.
He was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather. He was the eldest son of Ameilo and Mary Petrilena, born July 4 1924 in Colliers, W.Va.
He met his bride Teresa Joan Barilaro on a blind date, Dec. 21 1949. The couple married Oct. 21, 1950 and spent 61 blessed years together.
He worked for Standard Steel and Dravo Corporations for over 40 years. He and his wife retired in 1990 and relocated to Gulf Shores and Waccabuc, N.Y. He was an avid sportsman, enjoyed the outdoors, had great appreciation for nature, gardening and numerous building projects. He was an accomplished golfer, sportsman, enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He courageously served his country in the military as an Army corporal during World War 11. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge with the 110 infantry and was awarded a Purple Heart of Honor for his service.
Survivors include his loving wife, Teresa; two daughters, Linda (Michael) Spiccia of Crown Point, Ind., and Mary Ann Petrilena (husband Jonathan L. Wiesner) of Waccabuc, N.Y.; and three grandchildren, Britta Wiesner of Atlanta, Patricia Spiccia of Crown Point, Ind., and Spencer Wiesner of Waccabuc, N.Y.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 14 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Foley.
