Rufus Arthur Armstrong Jr., 71, a native of Birmingham and a resident of Laurel Hill, Fla., died Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009.
He was a retired Deputy Sheriff of Okaloosa County, Florida Sheriff’s Department and retired from the U.S. Air Force; and was an active member of the Concord Masonic Lodge No. 50, Laurel Hill, Fla.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Armstrong of Laurel Hill, Fla.; three sons, Terry (Donna) Armstrong of Summerdale, Ken (Florence) Armstrong of Oldsmar, Fla., and Greg (Sandra) Armstrong of Musella, Ga.; two sisters, Grace Knight of Birmingham and Pauline Tidwell of Oneonta; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29 at Laurel Hill First Baptist Church.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the American Lung Association of Alabama, P.O. Box 3188, Bessemer, AL 35023.
