Armed suspect flees from Fairhope robbery scene, remains at large

FAIRHOPE, Ala. — A suspect who police say robbed a clerk at gunpoint Wednesday afternoon remains at large, after fleeing from the Summit Shell Station at the corner of Gayfer Avenue and North Section Street.

“On July 31, at approximately 3:21 a.m., a black male subject, armed with a handgun, entered the Summit Shell Station,” a Fairhope Police Department news release stated at 10 a.m. yesterday.  “He pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money from the cash register.

“The subject then fled on foot from the location,” the release stated. “The clerk was not injured.”

Police have asked anyone with information to contact the department at 928-2385.
