She was born on Aug. 29, 1914 in her parents’ home on Oak Street in Fairhope. She grew up in Fairhope in the next family home at the corner of Section and Equality streets.

Annalaura was a graduate of the Marietta Johnson School of Organic Education and later attended Daphne Normal School. She lived in Fairhope her entire life, except for about five years in Warner Robins, Ga.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson M. Although Annalaura and Wilson had no children of their own, they were deeply involved with their nieces and nephews, and she is survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was deeply loved by her family and we will all miss her love and her feisty determined spirit.

Annalaura was involved in business her entire working life first as a bookkeeper and secretary, and later as a business owner.

She was one of the first female storeowners in Fairhope when she and Ella Mae Smith opened The Children’s House in the late 1950s.

She and Wilson were involved in many civic and charitable causes and were active in their churches.

A graveside service will be held Monday, Nov. 23 at 11 a.m. at the Bay Minette Cemetery.

A memorial celebration of life will be held at a later date.
