Ann LaRue Bayer Harrell, a native of Birmingham, Alabama, and a resident of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 91.
She was a graduate of Birmingham-Southern College and Columbia University, School of Library Service, New York, NY. She was a Librarian at Bayside Academy in Daphne from 1970-1981 and at Baldwin County Library System in Robertsdale, Alabama. In Feb. 2022, she was awarded the Status of Faculty Emeritus at Bayside Academy. She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, the Ecor Rouge Chapter and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. C.D. Douglas Jr., with whom she was married for over 50 years.
Her survivors include her children, Dr. Claude Douglas Harrell III, and his wife, Jo Linder; grandchildren, Courtney LaRue Harrell, Claude Douglas Harrell IV, a son George Leonard Harrell and his wife Rebecca Clarke and their son George Holland Harrell; extended family and friends.
Funeral services were held in the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope, Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 2:00 pm. The family began receiving friends at 1:00 pm.
Burial followed at Montrose Cemetery, following funeral service.
