There are plenty of ways to spend an October afternoon, but few offer wine, live music, art and a garden setting quite like Meet ’Em in the Arboretum.

The Magnolia Springs Garden Club will host its third annual Meet ’Em in the Arboretum Fall Fundraiser from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, at The Springs Arboretum & Gardens in Magnolia Springs.

Set among one of the community’s most beautiful natural spaces, the elegant afternoon will feature wine, hors d’oeuvres, live music by Garrett Howell, a silent auction, raffled floral arrangements and fellowship.

“This is our third year, and each year has been highly successful with lots of community support,” said Kathryn McFadden, Magnolia Springs Garden Club fundraising chair.

Tickets are $50 per person and include hors d’oeuvres, two wine or beer tickets, live music and the afternoon’s festivities. Tickets are available at Jesse’s in Magnolia Springs and Page and Palette in Fairhope. They also can be purchased online at www.magnoliaspringsgardenclub.net. Tickets may be mailed to purchasers or held at the door.

New this year is the aforementioned silent auction, which will feature artwork donated by local artists.

“New this year in addition to live music by Garrett Howell, we are having a silent auction,” McFadden said. “One of our featured art pieces is by a local artist from Foley, Ragan Windsor.”

The fundraiser helps support the continued growth, maintenance and preservation of The Springs Arboretum & Gardens, a community project of the Magnolia Springs Garden Club in partnership with the Town of Magnolia Springs and local sponsors.

The Arboretum has been putting down deeper roots in the community over the past several years. The garden club and its partners have expanded native plant and pollinator gardens, improved maintenance and parking, added donated artwork and continued efforts to create a welcoming place to connect with nature and learn about the local environment.

“We have made tremendous progress in the refurbishment of the arboretum by planting new beds and maintaining existing plantings,” McFadden said.

The work is far from finished. Future plans include additional lighting, outdoor venues for the community, improved parking and signage.

Funds raised through the event support year-round maintenance, native trees and shrubs, pollinator gardens, educational programs, website development and event promotion, community events, future improvements and free public access.

Baldwin County Sewer Service is the title sponsor for this year’s fundraiser.

The Magnolia Springs Garden Club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and sponsorships are available. Tax-deductible sponsorships help preserve and enhance The Springs Arboretum & Gardens while supporting educational programs and the continued growth of the community destination.

With the gardens as a backdrop, Meet ’Em in the Arboretum offers an opportunity to raise a glass, enjoy an afternoon of music and art and see how a community garden continues to grow.

The Springs Arboretum & Gardens is at 14819 Spring St. in Magnolia Springs.
