ALDOT suspends temporary lane closures ahead of severe weather

Posted

The Alabama Department of Transportation will suspend temporary lane closures on interstates, U.S. highways and state routes in 10 south Alabama counties as severe weather moves through the region.

The suspension will be in effect from 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, through 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11.

The affected counties are Mobile, Baldwin, Escambia, Conecuh, Covington, Coffee, Geneva, Dale, Houston and Henry.

ALDOT is urging drivers to postpone unnecessary travel during severe weather and avoid roads affected by flooding.

For drivers who must travel, ALDOT recommends planning ahead, allowing extra travel time and remaining alert. Motorists can check current traffic and road conditions, including traffic camera feeds, through ALGO Traffic at www.ALGOtraffic.com or through the ALGO Traffic app.
