Alabama voters urged to prepare ahead of June 16 primary runoff election

Posted

Alabama voters are being encouraged to verify their registration information, review their sample ballots and confirm their polling locations ahead of the June 16 Primary Runoff Election.

According to a news release from the Alabama Secretary of State’s Office, voters can access election information through www.AlabamaVotes.gov, including voter registration status, polling place locations and county-specific sample ballots.

“AlabamaVotes.gov remains the best resource for voters preparing to exercise their right to vote in the June 16 Primary Runoff Election,” Secretary of State Wes Allen said in the release. “Alabamians can verify their voter registration status, find their polling location and review their county’s sample ballot so that they are fully prepared when heading to the polls.”

Polls across the state will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day. Alabama voters must present a valid form of photo identification before casting a ballot at their polling place or when voting by absentee ballot.

Election results will be posted at each polling place in a visible location after voting concludes. Cumulative statewide results will also be available at www.AlabamaVotes.gov.

State election officials also highlighted the role of local election workers and officials in administering the runoff election. Allen thanked probate judges, circuit clerks, sheriffs, boards of registrars and poll workers for their efforts in preparing for Election Day.

“As Secretary of State and a former probate judge, I understand how Alabama’s election system depends on the hard work of our dedicated local election officials. I commend Alabama’s probate judges, circuit clerks, sheriffs, boards of registrars and poll workers for their efforts to ensure Alabama elections are conducted in a secure, transparent and accountable way,” Allen said.
