Alabama Credit Union to host Strike Out Hunger fundraiser and online auction for Secret Meals

Posted

Alabama Credit Union will host an online auction and bowling fundraiser in August to benefit Secret Meals for Hungry Children, a program aimed at reducing childhood food insecurity in Alabama and Florida.

An online auction will run Aug. 14-21 at www.secretmeals.org, with organizers seeking donations to support the effort. Proceeds will help fund weekend food packs for children in need.

The Strike Out Hunger bowling fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 22, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Gulf Bowl, 2881 S. Juniper St., Foley. Organizers are also seeking sponsors and bowlers for the event and are encouraging teams of eight to participate.

Whether participants are experienced bowlers or simply looking to support the cause, the event is designed to raise funds and awareness for children living in food-insecure households.

Secret Meals for Hungry Children was created by Alabama Credit Union in 2008 with the goal of decreasing the number of children in Alabama and Florida who face hunger on weekends. The program works with local food banks to ensure children have reliable access to nutritious food when school meals are not available.

According to organizers, 100% of every donation goes directly toward preparing food packs for Secret Meals for Hungry Children in South Alabama. It costs an average of $140 to provide weekend food packs for one child for an entire school year.

Alabama Credit Union said its commitment to addressing childhood hunger remains strong through continued partnerships with local food banks and community supporters.
