The Alabama Housing Finance Authority has opened entries for its 2026 Kids’ Art Contest, inviting children across the state to imagine and design their dream home as part of National Homeownership Month activities.
Now in its fifth year, the contest encourages Alabama children ages 5 to 12 to participate under the theme “Draw Your Dream Home.” Organizers say the goal is to highlight the value of homeownership while giving young artists a chance to express creativity.
“We are asking young creators to gather their art supplies and put on their thinking caps,” said AHFA Single-Family Administrator Carrie Hamaker in a news release. “Whether it’s a tree house, a beach house, a castle or a cozy cabin, we want to see fun, unique designs that showcase originality.”
Children are encouraged to think broadly about what a home can look like, with possibilities ranging from beach houses and castles to treehouses, cabins or space-inspired designs. Any art medium may be used including crayons, markers, colored pencils or paint.
Entry is free. Parents may help submit a photo of their child’s artwork online. The submission deadline is 11:59 p.m. Saturday, June 6. Contest details and entry access are available at woobox.com/ytp22r.
Winners will be announced and prizes awarded in June during Homeownership Month celebrations.
