DAPHNE – The Bayside Academy Admirals kicked off their 2009-10 home football schedule Friday at Freedom Field with a 52-6 win over Calhoun County High.

The Admirals were led by junior running back Ryan “Taz” Owens who ran for two touchdowns.

Bayside came out of the game running on all cylinders, capping off a long scoring drive in the first quarter with an eight-yard-run by senior running back Chris Ives.

The passing attack took over in the second quarter as junior quarterback Camp Campbell completed a 62-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Daniel Beebe with 10:31 to go.

Less than a minute later, Bayside followed the score up with a 36-yard touchdown pass to sophomore running back Scooter Blake.

The one-sided scoring trend continued when Bayside recovered a safety with 1:34 to go in the second to make the score 31-0.

Calhoun scored but failed to convert the extra point as the halftime score held Bayside up 31-6.

Owens ran for his second touchdown from two yards out at 4:32 in the third quarter, with the score 38-6 after three.

With seven minutes remaining, facing fourth down and five yards to go on their own 20-yard-line, Bayside decided to go for it, picking up the necessary yardage.

No. 44 junior Thomas Buchanon promptly ran it in a couple plays later to make it 45-6.
