LUVERNE – The Bayside Academy Admirals went on the road and beat Luverne 31-21 in a Class 3A Area 1 game on Friday.
Bayside improved to 5-3 overall and 4-2 in region play. If the Admirals beat Central-Hayneville next week they will host a first round playoff game as the second seed in Region 1.
Quarterback Camp Campbell led the Admirals with three total touchdowns in the win. Campbell completed 7-of-11 passes for 162 yards and two scores and added a rushing touchdown.
Thomas Buchanon carried 23 times for 145 yards and a touchdown and caught three passes for 115 yards and another score.
The Admirals rushed 59 times for 193 yards in the win.
Bayside scored first when Campbell hit Chris Ives for a five-yard score with 5:35 to play in the first quarter. The Admirals scored again less than two minutes later when Buchanon carried for a one-yard touchdown run.
After a Luverne touchdown pass from Ryan McGee to Montario May, Bayside’s Garrett Hilton nailed a 20-yard field goal.
McGee scored on a 58-yard rush for Luverne to close out the first half.
The Admirals led 17-14 at the break.
Campbell hit Buchanon for a 79-yard strike with just over four minutes left in the third quarter. Campbell added a five-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
Hilton made four extra points to go with his 20-yard field goal.
