During the past several weeks an article,”Loves labor won,” written by Mike Odom, Staff Writer, was published in verious newspapers owned by Gulf Coast Newspapers. When Mike first called me about doing this article I thought to myself, “I doubt that anyone will really be interested in reading about this.” But I was mistaken. I have had a lot of response.

I want to publicly thank Mike Odom for being so caring and doing such a super job in writing this article. Of course it’s a very personal story and brought back many happy memories to me.

Roy and I had been married for 54 years and 7 months when God took him home after a long illness.

Going through Hurricane Katrina was quite a traumatic experience, but with God's help and my caring and loving Church family — First Baptist Fairhope — it turned out to have been a blessing for me. Ladies in the church even gave a church-wide shower for me to help replace items lost in the hurricane.

I also want to thank Wallace and Karmen Milham, and their children who found my letters and cared enough to find me and return them to me.

This is just one more way God has blessed me!
