The world premiere of the international blockbuster exhibition, A Day in Pompeii, proves to be a hit on the Gulf Coast as it reached the 100,000 attendance mark. With less than a month remaining in the exhibition schedule, the exhibit has seen 100,196 visitors through May 3.

Demonstrating the appeal of this exclusive international exhibit on a national scale, visitors represent all 50 states and 12 countries. The exhibit is showing at the Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center, the exclusive Southeast venue, through June 3.

The Exploreum recently celebrated another milestone, reaching 1.5 million guests since its opening. The Exploreum opened in downtown Mobile in October 1998.

A Day in Pompeii, gives an account of the life and death of the cosmopolitan Roman city that was destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius.

The exhibit includes elements of Roman life, frescoes, marble and bronze statues and dramatic body casts of the victims in their last moments.
