Summer may be winding down but the local events calendar is still running at full speed.
This weekend's lineup includes everything from waterslides and balloon art to Civil War history, ghost stories and an interactive art exhibit built from repurposed materials. Residents can also learn practical hurricane preparedness skills, explore Mobile's rich Black medical history or watch some surprisingly athletic goats put their training to the test.
Whether you're looking to stay cool, learn something new or enjoy a family outing, there's no shortage of ways to fill the days ahead. Just don't try to do everything at once — even the goats know the importance of pacing themselves.
These events, along with many others happening throughout the region, appear on our Happenings pages as space permits and online at www.GulfCoastMedia.com/things-to-do-events. Most event coverage is published online in advance of the event, making it easier to plan ahead.
For the fastest placement, submit events to the online calendar at www.GulfCoastMedia.com/calendar. Calendar submissions are published the same day they are received and are considered for inclusion in print listings. Up to 10 events are selected each week for print publication.
