SPANISH FORT, Ala.—5 Rivers Delta Resource Center will soon launch its newest adventure, and this time the fun is reserved for the area’s littlest explorers.

Growing Up Wild, created specifically for preschoolers, kicks off with “Fishing Fun” at 1 p.m. March 4. The program will teach kids all they ever wanted to know about fish through a simple – and entertaining – game.

“Growing Up Wild will help our little ones get a head start in learning about the environment that is right outside their doors,” said 5 Rivers Assistant Manager Shonda Borden.

But older kids have no reason to feel left out.

The environmental education center will also host its latest Saturday Adventure Class, "Know Your Alabama Snakes," from 9 to 11 a.m. March 5. Although the program is geared toward third- through fifth-graders, anyone is welcome to attend.

Borden said participants will have a chance to “get an up-close encounter” with some of the Mobile-Tensaw Delta’s most common snakes and learn how to tell venomous from non-venomous varieties.

Both classes are free, but registration is required for the snake tutorial. For more information, call 251-625-0814.
