DAPHNE, Ala. — A total of 274 seniors Tuesday graduated from Daphne High School in a ceremony at Jubilee Stadium.
DHS’s Class of 2008 — which represents offers totaling $5.4 million in scholarships and four National Merit Finalists — included students whose dreams run the gamut, according to Karon Bishop, senior counselor. “There’s everything from welding to medicine; there’s just a big range,” she said of their aspirations.
College choices are diverse too, she said. These rising college freshmen will attend schools such as Yale, Southern Mississippi, the University of Alabama, the University of Auburn and the University of South Alabama.
Bishop said several students found inspiration in her field.
“Many of our top students are going into education,” she said. “Some of our students taking the most rigorous courses want to be teachers.
“We look forward to having them join us as colleagues.”
