The Baldwin County Memorial Day Flag Relay is conducted each year in honor of those that gave the most to our country and its citizens. Signs will line the route to honor fallen service members.
The public is invited to purchase a sign for $15 that includes a fallen service member’s name and photo. $5 of every sign sold is donated to the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort. The deadline to purchase a sign is May 21.
This year’s Baldwin County routes will begin in Loxley and end in Orange Beach. The routs will consist of two groups of runners traveling simultaneously, the first begins in Loxley the second in Foley. Both leave at 7 a.m.
Each three-person group will carry both the American flag and the Armed Forces flag for 2 – 3 miles, and then hand off the flags to the next relay group until the conclusion of the 37 mile run. It requires roughly 40 runners to complete the relay. Runners will be accompanied by police escorts for safe passage.
Please join us in cheering on the runners along the routes.
