RUFUGIO, Texas — A Robertsdale man who escaped from the Decatur Work Release on Sunday has been recaptured in Rufugio, Texas, according to the Alabama Department of Corrections Investigations and Intelligence Division.
Michael Paul Parker, 40, whose address was listed as Wilters Street in Robertsdale on the Baldwin County Corrections Center website, was serving out a 17-year sentence at the Decatur Work Release when he was reported missing during the early morning hours on Sunday, according to a release issued by the Alabama Department of Corrections.
In a follow-up release on Tuesday, ADOC stated that Refugio Police Department took Parker into custody around midnight. During a traffic stop Parker was arrested without incident.
According to the Baldwin County Corrections Center website, Parker has a long list of arrests dating back to 2002. He was booked in October of 2011 on charges of first degree robbery, first degree escape (fugitive from justice) and two counts of burglary third.
According to the ADOC release, he was serving out a 17-year sentence from Jan. 30, 2012 on robbery charges from Baldwin County.
Following his arrest in Texas, he now faces escape charges in Alabama.
