SUMMERDALE, Alabama — A Foley man has been arrested in on rape and sexual abuse charges allegedly involving a 7-year-old girl in Summerdale, according to a release issued Wednesday, by the Summerdale Police Department.
On Tuesday, Jan. 22, officers with the Summerdale Police Department arrested 39-year-old Taras Hodivsky Jr. of Foley, on charges of first-degree rape and sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12.
Hodivsky was booked into the Baldwin County Corrections Facility at around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, where he is being held without bond.
According to the release issued Wednesday by SPD Detective John Gleaton, the arrest stems from an investigation received by the Department of Human Resources and a joint investigation of the allegations was initiated.
“The suspect is a longtime un-related acquaintance of the victim’s mother,” according to the release. The victim, a 7-year-old girl, told investigators about the suspect violating her several times in a period over one year.
“The incidents happened at a workshop the suspect frequented at a property next to the victim’s residence,” according to the release. “The victim described various types of unlawful sexual contact between the 39-year-old suspect and the child.
Hodivsky was arrested without incident at his home in Foley on Tuesday.
