James Beard-nominated chef Bill Briand to open Little Bird Fairhope with The Hope Farm owners Deep Roots Restaurant Group

A piece of the puzzle has been revealed.

The owners of The Hope Farm announced the name and concept of its new restaurant project with chef Bill Briand Thursday via social media.

Little Bird Fairhope is set to open in downtown Fairhope, but the location is still a mystery. According to the Little Bird Fairhope website, the concept will “provide coastal Southern cuisine while paying homage, through naming and storytelling, to our chef’s beloved mother, Virginia Eileen Briand."

Briand, a five-time James Beard-nominated chef, joined The Hope Farm team after the closure of Fisher’s at Orange Beach Marina where Briand had been the executive chef for 10 years.

In March, Gulf Coast Media spoke with The Hope Farm founders Robert and Bentley Evans about the addition of Briand to the team and what is coming next.

“Bill was looking for an opportunity to do a specific concept that has been in his head for a long time,” Robert Evans said in March.

Bentley Evans said the new concert will offer diners the same standard of service as The Hope Farm but will have its own feel.

“It is going to be an experiential-focused place just like The Hope Farm, but it will have its own identity,” Bentley said in March. “From all of our concepts from here on out, they (guests) are going to be able to tie back and go, ‘That is the level that I am coming to expect because this is in the group of The Hope Farm.’”

The announcement on the new Little Bird Fairhope website also mentions the new restaurant group, Deep Roots Restaurant Group:

“This unique concept for Deep Roots Restaurant Group reinforces the love of their hometown of Fairhope. Little Bird provides their community another memorable experience that is both comfortable and vibrant.”

Further investigation found a website landing page but no further information.

Gulf Coast Media contacted Robert Evans earlier this week to see if there was an update on the new restaurant, and he said an announcement would come later in the week via social media but did not give any additional details. The mystery of the new restaurant’s location remains.
