Youth Orchestra holds kick off Saturday

The Baldwin County Youth Orchestra will hold its kick off tomorrow at Lifeway Community Church, located at 16373 Thompson Road in Loxley.
The group has been supporting school age musicians across Baldwin County for over a decade by providing weekly lessons and annual Christmas and springtime shows.
“This is a community effort to help promote awareness of the arts and help expose the kids to a wider variety of music and music styles,” said Directory Leroy Hughes.
On Saturday the orchestra invites any interested students to come and learn about the orchestra from 8:30 to noon. Regular rehearsals begin Monday.
The orchestra hosts string classes, for both beginners and advanced musicians and hosts a full offering of homeschool classes to include choir and guitar.
The group lost its longtime home last year after it was damaged in Hurricane Sally. The orchestra continues to search for a benefactor that can help the students build or rent a permanent rehearsal space.
The Baldwin County Youth Orchestra’s Christmas concert will be held Dec. 13 at the Foley Civic Center.
