ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — The first Jubilee Renaissance Faire was held Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 21-22 at Medieval Village, 30510 Osprey Lane, located north of the Wilcox Road exit of Interstate 10, Robertsdale.
Formerly known as the Mobile Renaissance Faire & Pirate Festival, the event, held each year on the third week of November, is a fun and learning experience of the middle ages. It is a time when young and old dress up as renaissance characters (not required) and head out for an exciting weekend full of history, music, food, arts, crafts and games.
Entertainment included live shows, dancers, sword fighting, a blacksmith demo, soapmaking demo, with featured entertainment from the Knights of Valor full contact jousting and Ichabod Wainwright and his 30-foot Wheel of Death.
The event also included streets scattered with noble knights, goddess princesses, dragon slayers, mighty kings, wizards and many more medieval characters.
