Elizabeth Whisenhant Annan


Our beloved sister/aunt, Elizabeth Whisenhant Annan passed away September 23, 2021, in Duluth, Georgia, at the age of 85. She is survived by her sister, Linda Adams, two nieces, Michelle Moebes, (Benjamin), Ashley Sanders, (Jonathan), and six great nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Armand Annan, III.

Born in Mobile, Alabama in 1936, she graduated from Murphy High School and Huffstetler Business College.  She was married to Armand A. Annan, III, and lived in Point Clear, Alabama.  Throughout her lengthy professional life, she held a variety of jobs including bookkeeper at Southern Industries Corporation in Mobile, assistant to the Director of Industry Relations at KTNT-TV, the CBS affiliate in the Seattle/Tacoma area, a veterinary assistant at Eastern Shore Animal Clinic in Fairhope, and office assistant at Magnolia Trace Real Estate and later Callahan and Associates.

Mrs. Annan was co-owner/business partner of Gulf Rebel Charter Fishing with her husband, Armand.

An avid musician, she played both the piano and organ, serving as organist at St. Margaret of Scotland Church in Foley, Alabama and at Christ the King Church in Daphne, Alabama. Upon occasion she was a substitute in various area churches, including the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Basilica in Mobile.

Mrs. Annan was active in the community having volunteered as a Girl Scout Troop Leader, as well as serving as the Para-Professional in Baldwin County for the Deep South Girl Scout Council in South Alabama. 

She was an avid environmentalist and animal rights supporter. She dearly loved her Scottish Terrier dogs which she trained and showed in Competitive Obedience throughout the Gulf States while also competing in Earthdog Tests and training in Tracking Competition.

Interment will be at Magnolia Cemetery in Mobile at a future date.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alabama Scottish Terrier Rescue Association (ASTRA), c/o Frances Nelson, 445 Derby Lane, Montgomery, AL 36109.
