Residents of Spanish Fort have a new destination for fitness, family activities and community engagement as the YMCA of South Alabama opens its latest branch in the Blakeley Square shopping center.
The new facility represents a step in the YMCA's mission to serve Mobile and Baldwin County communities, making its services more accessible to the rapidly growing Eastern Shore area, according to a news release. The branch will feature a full fitness center, group fitness classes and a YMCA child-watch program designed to support families while they focus on their wellness goals.
The space is designed with a contemporary, YMCA-branded look, emphasizing a community-focused layout that enhances the experience for members. Gwen Sommer, CEO of the YMCA of South Alabama, said the new branch aligns with the organization's core values and dedication to providing programs and services for youth, families and older adults.
"With a commitment to our YMCA core values and mission statement, we hope to expand our presence on the Alabama Eastern Shore in Spanish Fort, thus furthering our dedicated initiatives to serve more youth, families and older adults within our two Alabama counties of service," Sommer said in the release.
In addition to offering fitness and wellness programs, the YMCA of South Alabama is committed to becoming an active participant in the Spanish Fort community through local initiatives and partnerships. The organization's mission of promoting a healthy mind, body and spirit is reflected in its motto: "For a better us."
