LOXLEY – Baldwin County authorities are investigating an incident in which a Loxley woman died Thursday after being shot during an argument, a police statement said.

Tomeca Richardson, 40, died after being transported to a local hospital.

On Thursday, May 5, Loxley police officers were sent to the 1400 block of Wolf Run Road, according to the statement. The officers found Richardson had been shot. She was taken to the hospital, but later died.

At some point, the argument became more violent. A person pulled out a firearm and began shooting. Richardson was hit during the gunfire at around 7:30 p.m.

Lt. Andre Reid of the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office said investigators have identified a person of interest in the shooting.

The shooting is under investigation by the Baldwin County Major Crimes Unit, which is working with Loxley police on the case.

Investigators worked throughout the night and are still following leads to determine who fired the shot that killed Richardson.
