As of 4 p.m. Jan. 21, there were 11 people staying in winter weather shelters across Baldwin County, according to Baldwin County Emergency Management Agency.
Sea Glass Initiative Inc., a nonprofit social service agency that serves the unhoused in Baldwin County, is seeking veterinarian offices or people who will shelter pets so their owners can enter a shelter during this week’s winter weather.
It also posted about a church in Daphne opening as a warming station Monday and Tuesday in addition to the overnight shelter in Foley. Call (251) 332-3442 for transportation to the shelter.
There are several warming centers and stations open in Baldwin and Mobile counties ahead of winter weather that will chill southern Alabama starting Sunday evening.

Baldwin County VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster) are diligently working to open additional shelters for those with inadequate heating or those who are unhoused/homeless. The Sea Glass Initiative is coordinating shelters. Many BCVOAD partners are working behind the scenes to make this happen. Food is being provided by Prodisee Pantry, The Table and others in the community. Blankets, cots, toiletries and other supplies are being collected from local churches and civic organizations.
