Wes Morris Jr., 87, passed away March 16, 2023, in Fairhope, Alabama, surrounded by his family.

Wes was born in Foshee, Alabama, and became head of his family at a young age, going to work at 15 to support his mother and four siblings. After moving to Baldwin County, Wes founded several small businesses over the years and served as a volunteer firefighter.

A resident of Spanish Fort for 58 years, Wes was a pillar of the community and beloved by countless friends and neighbors. In the words of his brother Houston, he worked with unselfish devotion to support Margaret, his wife of 68 years, and to set his four children up for success. As a young father, he was a fixture at Gulf State Park, driving the boat for his children and their friends to water ski from morning until dark.

In retirement, he enjoyed his time on Fish River, where he hosted oyster bakes and taught his grandchildren to fish. He and Margaret also traveled widely, from Alaska to the Bahamas, and even enjoyed a particularly memorable anniversary on John Wayne’s yacht. Wes made friends everywhere he went; it is a comfort to his family to know he will be remembered fondly by so many.

In addition to his wife, Margaret, and his brother Houston, Wes is survived by brother Harvey Glenn; children Deborah Ebert, Beverly Danner, Angela House, and Billy Morris; grandchildren Danielle Danner, Amanda Dismukes, Chase Ebert, James House, and Kylin Morris; and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.

He is predeceased by his father Wes Morris Sr., mother Odie, and sisters Cornelius Ardis and Ernestine Baker.

Funeral services were held from the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Daphne, Monday, March 20, 2023, at 11:00 am.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time.

Interment will follow in Jubilee Memorial Gardens .
