Wendell Merril Simmons, age 73, a resident of Summerdale, Alabama, passed away Jul. 17, 2024. Wendell Simmons was born and raised in Monroeville, Alabama, where he worked in the timber industry with his father A.W. Simmons. In 1995 with the love of the outdoors, his purchase of a boat and the need for a boat life he formed Simco Marine Products in Baldwin County, Alabama. With his love for people, talking, fishing, and the help of his son Andrew Simmons, Simco Marine Products became his lifetime passion. His favorite times were spent hunting, fishing, and enjoying family and friends. His love of people often resulted in his playful pranks, jokes, and much laughter!
Wendell is survived by his wife, Lynn Simmons; son, Andrew Simmons (Kellie); stepson, Adrian Nelms (Christine); grandchildren, Annelore McMahon (Chas), Kasey Lancaster (Alan), and Alex Gressett; great-grandchildren, Emery McMahon, Kamille Lancaster, and Kayden Lancaster; sisters Sherry Dunn (Gary), and Beverly Reeves, along with many other loving relatives and friends. Memorial services were held in the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope, on Mon., Jul. 22, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation began at 1:00 p.m. To honor Wendell’s memory, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Heart Association.
