Elberta senior TyShaun Washington is taking his basketball talents to the University of Mobile he announced Tuesday, April 4.
“Thank you to everyone who has impacted my life this far and I wouldn’t have made it here without the influence of you all,” Washington wrote on social media. “With that being said I am blessed to be able to say that I am fully committed to the University of Mobile.”
Washington finished his senior season as the Warriors’ all-time leading scorer where he averaged 17.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4 assists and 3.5 steals per game. His field goal percentage was 49.8% with a three-point percentage of 31.1%.
The 6’, 175-pound guard also helped Elberta register its first area win in program history with a 49-38 win over Gulf Shores Jan. 13.
He’s set to join a Mobile Ram squad that went 18-11 overall with a 12-8 conference record this year which was the best record so far under Darnell Archey through his four years. It also marked the Rams’ best season in 10 years and first 18-win campaign since 2009-10.
Mobile earned the No. 3 seed in the Southern States Athletic Conference’s postseason tournament and ultimately fell in the quarterfinals to sixth-seeded Blue Mountain Christian by one point.
Washington was also a standout on the football field during his time with the Warriors where he racked up 103 career tackles, 10 pass breakups and 2 interceptions. He was named to Baldwin County Public Schools’ all-county team as a second-team athlete for his efforts in his final season.
