In recognition of National Voter Registration Day, members of the League of Women Voters of Baldwin County will be at the Foley Public Library on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2024, to register voters and answer voting-related questions.
The event, taking place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., is part of a broader effort to ensure residents are prepared to vote in the upcoming election on Nov. 5.
Foley Mayor Ralph Hellmich signed a proclamation on Sept. 3 at the Foley City Council meeting, officially recognizing National Voter Registration Day. During his remarks, Mayor Hellmich emphasized the importance of poll workers in ensuring smooth and secure elections. He also expressed confidence in the integrity of Alabama’s election systems, stating that both the state and the City of Foley are committed to secure and transparent elections.
Residents interested in serving as poll workers for the upcoming election can still apply for these critical roles. Training sessions for poll workers will be held in Foley on Sept. 30, with three different time slots available.
The League of Women Voters of Baldwin County is coordinating similar voter registration events throughout Baldwin County ahead of the Oct. 21 registration deadline for the Nov. 5 election.
