MOBILE — Volunteers still have the opportunity to sign up for the Today's Homeowner Community Service Project on June 5-8 at Battleship Memorial Park. Those who wish to help can do so by volunteering their time and skills, donating supplies/materials or by making a financial contribution to the project. Some of the materials and expertise needed for the project include:

  • Lunches and snacks for volunteers;
  • Drinking water;
  • Sponsorship for project T-shirts;
  • Landscaper expertise and materials; and
  • Electricians.

The park will welcome Mobile native Danny Lipford and his team from Today's Homeowner to work on several projects for a special community service episode featuring the USS Alabama. During the episode, a crew of home improvement experts and professionals will work on the following projects:

  • Cleaning and beautifying the grounds;
  • Refreshing and repairing memorials;
  • Upgrading the landscaping on the grounds; and
  • Repainting the bow of the USS Alabama.

The project will be filmed for a special episode of Today's Homeowner TV and will air across 91% of the U.S., reaching more than 2 million viewers. The taping week will take place on June 5-8, and the episode will air the week of July 10.
