Vernon Mathew “Vern” Scheer, 76, a resident of Elberta, Alabama, passed away Sun., May 18, 2025. Vernon was a beloved member of the Elberta Community. He was a proud owner and operator of Ken & Vern’s Barbershop in Fairhope, Alabama. He spent decades behind the chair, offering not just haircuts, but friendship, conversation, and a sense of belonging to generations of loyal customers. Outside of the barbershop, Vernon was a dedicated member of Elks Lodge in Foley, Alabama. His commitment to his community was evident in all he did, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Preceding him in death are his daughter, Terri Klein, & granddaughter, Katrina
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Scheer of Elberta, Alabama; son, Scooter (Jessica) Scheer of Elberta, Alabama; daughter, Tammy White of Gulf Shores, Alabama; son-in-law Eugene Klein; grandson, Kelvin; 3 granddaughters, Kaleigh, Kassie, and DeAnna; 2 sisters, Lois Turner of Elberta, Alabama & Stephanie Larson of Lillian, Alabama; Along with many other loving relatives and friends. A Celebration of Vernon’s Life will be held Sat., Jun. 21, 2025, at Elks Lodge in Foley, Alabama starting at 2 P.M.
